Spreadsheet practice online — editable formulas & real workbook export
Practice practical spreadsheet tasks with actual cells and a bounded formula engine. Calculate cafe revenue, stock decisions, discounts, margins, remaining budgets and delay summaries, then test your target formulas across changed inputs.
SheetQuest
Choose your inputs, or load the working example to explore the result. Your files stay on this device.
Supported scope: Independent 10-row × 6-column practice grid, not Microsoft Excel or a full compatibility engine. Functions: SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT, ROUND, ABS, IF, AND, OR; arithmetic/comparisons, A1 references, $ locks and rectangular ranges. No dates, sheets, lookup functions, macros or external links. · Cell text/formulas up to 500 characters, 200 formula tokens, 40 nesting levels and bounded operations. Division by zero, circular references and unsupported syntax are explicit errors. Formula semantics are limited to the documented numeric exercises. · No certificate, job promise, leaderboard or account. Six daily rotating exercises. No automatic saving; saved SheetQuest JSON up to 40 KB. XLSX stores supported valid formulas with cached values; error/unsupported formulas are literal text.

Is this Microsoft Excel in a browser?
No. It is an independent, bounded practice grid with a documented formula subset. It uses actual cells and formulas for its six exercises, but does not promise full Excel behavior, arbitrary workbook import or every spreadsheet function.
Why does a correct-looking number fail?
Target cells need formulas. The checker resets non-target inputs to the original scenario and four changed-input variants, then evaluates your target formulas. A fixed answer or a formula tied to the original constants may match the current display and fail changed inputs.
Can I use another valid formula?
Yes. The checker compares outputs on five cases, not an exact formula string. Any supported formula producing the required results can pass. This finite set is not proof for every possible input; the report lists the tested cases.
Does Fill down handle dollar signs?
Yes. Relative row references move down, while a dollar-locked row stays fixed. Column locks are retained. References outside A1:F10 are rejected. For the discount exercise, $F$2 keeps the common rate fixed.
What happens to unsupported formulas when I export?
The local grid shows an error. The workbook stores unsupported or error formulas as literal text, not as active Excel formulas. Valid supported formulas are exported with their current cached values; the Read me sheet records this boundary.
Will my progress survive closing the page?
Only if you explicitly save the editable project JSON. You can reopen it later. The tool does not create an account, cloud workbook or automatic browser-storage copy. The XLSX and CSV are portable outputs but are not project-import formats for this tool.
Sources & assumptions
Formats, algorithms and supported features are documented below. Check the stated scope and inspect your output before using it.
- Microsoft — SUM function ↗
Spreadsheet aggregation context; this independent practice engine implements only its listed subset.
- Microsoft — IF function ↗
Conditional formula context for the original stock and margin exercises.
- SheetJS — Cell objects ↗
Formula and cached-value representation used for the real XLSX export.
